What is Interesting Record Club?
Fantastic question! Interesting Record Club is my way of sharing music which I find interesting, that’s it!
There is so much fantastic music out there, and with the likes of Spotify and YouTube (and all the others) we have access to pretty much all of it! That can make it really hard to find and connect with music that you find engaging and exciting. That’s where I come in!
I’ll be sharing albums that I love and will write a bit about it. I’ll also include some links to where you can buy / listen to the album and support the artist.
But wait, can’t I just use the algorithm?
Yep, you can! But even though Silicon Valley has become very good at knowing what you like, there is still marketing behind it all! A lot of the time someone is paying for what you see.
I mean, isn’t that what’s happening here? Aren’t I telling you what to care about?? Yeah you’re not wrong! Though I am sharing music that I care about in the hope you do too. I’m not going to push it any harder than that!
Isn’t this a club? I want to share!
Shit yeah, I want to hear about it! Send me a message. At the moment there isn’t a list here of the “clubs” recommendations. But never say never!
Is it free?
Indeed it is! I’ll send out one newsletter a week. If you like some of the music I share, support that artist. Buy their album, go to a gig, send them a love letter!
If you like Interesting Record Club, please subscribe! It will help me feel the love, that’s for sure.
One last question, who are you?
My name is Shaun Rammers, I am a saxophone and clarinet player and composer based in Melbourne, Australia. I wrote my own music along with performing besides some wonderful musicians, such as Nigel Wearne, Harriett Allcroft and the Jazzlab Orchestra.
No pressure, but you can find out more about me at shaunrammers.com
